You can opt out of most telemarketing ("donotcall.gov") and most spam ("click here to unsubscribe"). Why can't you opt out of junk mail? Of the three, it's the worst for the environment. Forests are cut down to print it, and millions of gallons of fuel are burned to deliver it to the mailboxes of people who will just throw it away.
